Hey there, thanks for coming and visiting our page! My name is Cassidy. I am a stay at home farm wife working alongside my husband, Ben. We are crop and cattle farmers in the great state of South Dakota. Growing up in the western lifestyle, they say its true that it takes a special soul to love the prairie, and I can say that's totally true. While we may not have access to certain items, we are the number one state to retire in, am I right?

I grew up along the Missouri river on a cattle ranch in the middle of nowhere. Living among the charred grass and cattle gates, you learn to take what you are given and work with it. You also learned how to be bored, and with that boredom came creativity, like rolling your sister in an old oil barrel down the hill and stopping her before she hit the bottom of a dry crick bed. (Yes, we actually did this, no there was no casualties)

My love of creating things came from an early age. Coming from an artist driven family, we were never short of pastels, crayons, and paper. But my first true creative love came from the kitchen. So much so that I graduated with a Culinary Degree in 2016 and was a traveling prep chef and caterer for many years.

As much as I loved the kitchen, I loved the outdoors more. My father was an avid hunter and often took me with, introducing me to the coon hound world and everything in it. Cattle were also a part of our daily lives, and you could often ask me at the ripe age of 7, which numbers to tag calves and who calved last year when asked. I loved both and was active in brandings, hunting trials, and working with horses for other people.

As we get older, we tend to forget the creative side of us and determine that those childish things we enjoyed, might no longer serve us. After working in the corporate world for a few years, it was easier to forget about the things I once enjoyed and find solace in other things.

Then, one year, as a broke girl, I decided to do homemade gifts for Christmas. I found a recipe online for beef tallow lotion and made a batch. When I ended up with too many for what I needed, I took to the socials and posted them for sale. What just started as a gift turned into a business. People were buying, I tweaked my recipes, spent hundreds of hours researching, and in the winter of 2025, I quit my corporate job to pursue tallow full time.

I have always had an interest in a more holistic lifestyle and making my tallow products with minimal and clean ingredients. Hearing someone say, "Your tallow healed my eczema", truly hits me in the chest in the best way every time. I have loved helping people get healthier one product at a time. Doing this with my husband has also been so fulfilling for us.

I started tallow on a whim, and now it's really let the creative energy in me flow out fully. But don't worry, I still have the hound dog and the horses!

I plan to blog here any thoughts, updates, tips and tricks on all things farm, beef, animals and lifestyle.
